Converted Porch: Indoor Housing

Here's what we love about this foster home set-up: THE BUN RUNS! Each rabbit has some space to run while they wait for their turn in the big part of the house. A long run is always wonderful for rabbits. It also makes it easy to open up the end of the run to let each rabbit exercise outside their apartment without having to pick up the rabbit. A rabbit who can exit and enter her apartment on her own is often happier than one who has to be lifted and removed, or picked up to be placed back in. Again, this arrangement is easy to take down and rearranged to create larger apartments or for the good, weekly cleaning. Other interesting elements in this photo include the white fence on the right. In some cases, we will put this between rabbit pens to keep neighbors from nipping at each others' noses.

This type of set up can also be used in the "Good Neighbors Program" where two rabbits live by each other during the bonding process. Sometimes it helps for the rabbits to get to know each other slowly.
